Sharing your bank statements with ClearScore
When you search for personal loans on ClearScore, you may see an option to share your bank statements. This helps us and participating lenders understand your finances and gives you more certainty about your eligibility for the offers shown.
Why am I being asked to share my bank statements?
Your bank statements provide information about your income, spending and financial commitments. Alongside your credit report and the details you’ve given us, this helps us and participating lenders assess your eligibility before you apply.
Sharing your statements doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be approved for a loan. The lender makes the final lending decision.
How do I share my bank statements?
If you’re shown the option when searching for personal loans:
- Choose to get started with sharing your bank statements.
- Select your bank and follow the instructions to connect it.
- Review the information about how your data will be used and shared.
- Complete the sharing steps shown on screen.
Connect the bank account you receive your income into, and follow any instructions about adding other banks.
Is it safe to share my bank statements?
Experian provides the service we use to retrieve your bank statement information. The connection gives ClearScore read-only access, so we can’t use it to make payments, change your banking details or set up direct debits.
Your bank details are encrypted during transfer and held securely. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle and protect your information.
Who can access my information?
ClearScore and the provider supporting the service process your bank statement information. It can also be shared with participating lenders to assess your eligibility for loan offers before you submit an application.
Review the consent information during setup and our Privacy Policy for details about how your information is used and shared.
Will sharing my bank statements affect my credit score?
Sharing your bank statements and checking loan offers through ClearScore won’t affect your credit score.
If you decide to apply for a loan, the lender may carry out a credit check that could affect your score.

No. You can choose Skip for now and continue browsing personal loans.
If you share your bank statements, you may see different offers. Sharing gives us and participating lenders more information to provide greater certainty about your eligibility for those offers.

What happens after I share my statements?
We’ll use the additional information to help assess your eligibility for the offers shown.
This can give you more certainty before applying, but it doesn’t guarantee approval. Always review an offer’s details and conditions before deciding whether to apply.
