- You can contact IDCARE. Australia's national identity and cyber support service, on 1300 432 273 visit their website.
- Check your credit report with ClearScore for anything you don't recognise.
- If there’s accounts, enquiries you don’t recognise, you need to contact the relevant provider as soon as possible. Most providers have internal fraud investigation processes and teams.
- Contact your local police, or report it to ReportCyber.
- Consider placing a ban on your credit report with Experian, Equifax and illion.
- Change your passwords and PINs. Try to make it different across your accounts. Check our article on how to create a strong password.
- Consider using a password manager, such as LastPass, to help with remembering different passwords.
- Update and run anti-virus software on all internet-enabled devices.
- Review your social media settings and minimise how much personal information you're sharing publicly.
- Add an extra layer of security by setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) on your online accounts, such as; email, online banking and social media. Remember to also enable 2FA on your ClearScore to protect your financial information.
