Types of credit information and maximum reporting period are below:
- Credit enquiries: Hard enquiries drop off your report after 5 years.
- Missed payment/defaults/payment history: 6 years after the account is closed/defaulted.
- Court Judgement: 5 years since you have paid up.
- Bankruptcy: 7 years since you declared bankruptcy. In some cases, your trustee can lodge an objection to extend the bankruptcy for up to 8 years.
- Closed account: 2 years from the date they were closed.
Keep in mind that the longer the information has been on your report, the smaller the effect it will have on your credit score.
