- What does this mean to me?
- Will my credit score change?
- What should I do if I notice old/incorrect information showing as new on my credit report?
The Experian and illion credit bureaus are coming together to create a single, more powerful credit data source. As a result, your credit report now includes more information from more places, and your credit score is calculated using a new model that reflects this broader view.
What does this mean for me?
You might notice some older credit enquiries (like past applications for loans or credit cards) that weren’t previously visible in your report. These aren’t new, they’re just part of combining records from both bureaus to create a more accurate report for you.
Will my credit score change?
Possibly, yes. Here’s why - because your report now includes more data, your score may go up or down slightly. This is completely normal and reflects a more accurate and balanced view of your credit health. If you’ve been managing your credit well, the change may even work in your favour.
Your credit report now reflects your full financial history, not just a partial view. That means you benefit from: More accounts and enquiries being included Fewer missing records or inconsistencies A credit score that better reflects how you manage credit
What should I do if I notice old/incorrect information showing as new on my credit report?
It’s best to contact the lender directly, because they’re the ones supplying the information to the credit bureaus. If they agree to remove the enquiry, they'll ask the bureaus to update their information, and your credit reports will be updated accordingly. In the case the credit provider you’ve contacted doesn’t agree with your correction, they’ll need to provide you with reasons why.
If you’re still not satisfied with the decision, you can appeal this via the External Dispute Resolution scheme (EDR) or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
